Greetings:
Since
becoming mayor, I believe I have implemented several
programs and services that improve the quality of life
for Parma residents. I have also strived to implement
significant managerial initiatives that have saved taxpayer
dollars.
During
my first term in office, I implemented major reforms
in the Public Housing Department, the Police Department,
and helped bring the Police Department and City Hall
into the 21st Century through vastly improved technology.
I
have developed new partnerships that benefit the City
and its residents within the community, the County,
and the State.
In
addition, I spearheaded the initiative to create the
Cleveland Metropark in Parma through partnerships with
the West Creek Preservation committee. That project
continues to grow, and will create another jewel in
the Cleveland Metroparks' "Emerald Necklace".
Late
last year, I implemented the Mayor's Blue Ribbon Commission
to review City operations and finance. My administration
continues to review and implement many of the recommendations
that resulted from that the Commission's hard work.
Included
in those recommendations was to place a policy levy
on the ballot, which successfully passed in May. Since
the levy passed, ten new officers have been sworn in
and patrols have increased around the City. In addition
to the Police Levy, I also helped lead the charge to
pass the tax equity initiative that finally passed in
2006, which also guarantees a citizens' right to vote
on tax issues.
I
want to thank the people of Parma for believing in me,
and the work that I have done over the last four years.
I couldn't have done this work, however, without the
help of the other talented elected officials in Parma.
I
encourage you to keep that in mind as you head to the
polls on Tuesday, November 6th. I ask that you re-elect
Ward 8 Councilman Scott Tuma, and Ward 1 Councilwoman
Mary Galinas. Scott and Mary have served their Wards
and the City of Parma well, and we have worked as a
team to promote and progress Parma toward the future.
Please help to keep these two devoted members of Council.
It
is also important to note the Parma Municipal Court
race. Deanna O'Donnell will make an honest and
fair judge, and I ask that you remember her on November
6th. Deanna is running for the seat being vacated by
retiring Judge, Mary Dunning. Deanna's experience speaks
for itself. She received "excellent" ratings from the
Cleveland Bar Association, Cuyahoga County Bar Association,
and the Ohio Women's Bar Association, and Deanna is
the candidate endorsed by The Plain Dealer, the Sun
News, and The Call & Post. I encourage you to see Deanna's
impressive ratings over her opponent at www.judge4yourself.com.
Please
feel free to share this message with friends and family,
and please don't hesitate to contact me if I can be
of assistance to you.
Sincerely,
Dean DePiero
Mayor of Parma
